1. Proprietary Software & Documentation
FastMD is a closed-source application. This repository hosts the official GitHub Pages website, terms of service, privacy policy, and documentation for FastMD.
Third-party open-source libraries used within FastMD remain governed by their respective licenses. You can view third-party license details on our Open Source Licenses Page.
2. Provided "As Is"
The Software is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. This means that:
- We do not guarantee that the Software will meet your requirements or run uninterrupted, timely, or error-free.
- We do not provide any warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
- In no event shall the authors or copyright holders be liable for any claim, damages, or other liability, whether in an action of contract, tort, or otherwise, arising from, out of, or in connection with the Software or the use or other dealings in the Software.
3. File Safety & Backups
Because FastMD is a local text editor that operates on your filesystem, you have complete control over your files.
Your Files, Your Responsibility: You are solely responsible for the storage, security, and integrity of your files, documents, and data. We highly recommend that you maintain regular backups of all important files through external drives, Git repositories, or cloud backup services.
FastMD cannot be held liable for any data loss, file corruption, or recovery failures resulting from the use of the Software.
4. Third-Party Tools & Libraries
FastMD bundles or invokes third-party open-source components, such as Qt 6 Widgets, md4c, KaTeX, highlight.js, and Pandoc, and renders its preview using the Microsoft Edge WebView2 runtime. These dependencies are governed by their own licenses (LGPL, MIT, GPL, etc.). By using FastMD, you acknowledge and agree to comply with those respective licenses, which you can review on our Open Source Licenses Page.
5. Governing Law
These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws applicable to open-source software distributions. Any disputes or issues should be raised directly in the form of an issue or discussion on the official project hosting service.
6. Changes to Terms
We reserves the right to modify these terms at any time. Any changes will be updated on this page. Your continued use of the Software after updates are published constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
